The longest day of the year, the summer solstice will be celebrated this Saturday with a day-long outdoor music festival which is free.
Musicians from all over New England will come to downtown Plymouth on June 21 to share their talents during a day of celebration and collaboration.
From 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. the town's center will be filled with music being offered by all ages, genres and skills and all are welcome to participate.
You can visit the instrument 'petting zoo,' learn to play an instrument and hear the area's best musicians play in the daylong Make Music Plymouth festival.
Bring your guitar or your harmonica. Plymouth welcomes musicians of all backgrounds to participate and use Main Street as a venue, with storefronts, sidewalks and common areas serving as stages.
Everyone is invited to attend and listen, learn, play or just enjoy the celebration.
More than 50 artists and bands are scheduled to appear and almost 70 performances are planned for locations all over the downtown area.
There will be something for everyone, including folk, country, alternative, soul, R&B, rock and indie music as well as local favorites and unique collaborations.
And if you play the guitar, harmonica or ukulele, you're in luck! We will be having three 'Mass Appeal' events, one for each, where anyone can join in to play the same instrument as part of a large group playing the same piece of music.

There will also be plenty of activities for kids, including an interactive 'Musical Expedition' presented by Music & Arts.
Children of all ages can come to the downtown common from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. to explore different types of instruments and get a special prize at the end of their journey.
Right next door will be the 'Kids Making Music' tent sponsored by Friends of the Arts, where everyone is welcome to stop by and create their own maracas and musical streamers.
For a special treat, come visit 'The Land of Sweets' by Ninth State Dance Studio and M 'n M Scoops. Skip around the world as dancers perform pieces from The Nutcracker and end your trip with a sweet surprise.
And if you want to participate but don't play an instrument, please join us for a yoga class or dance performance.
Blissful Lotus Yoga and Yoga Studio 8 will be offering yoga classes throughout the day and Ninth State Dance Studio invites everyone to take part in their heart-pumping, foot-stomping Irish Group Dancing (céilí) for the whole family (suggested age 6 +).
All of these classes will be accompanied by live music, so please let us know if you are a musician and would be interested in accompanying any of these events.
Scott Stephens, the executive director of the Plymouth Regional Chamber of Commerce, one of the main sponsors of the festival, has been involved from the very beginning.
'I first heard about this event in March and knew immediately that it was something we wanted to do,' he said about learning of the festival. 'We have been looking for the opportunity to put the spotlight on the Plymouth region as a cultural destination, and this was the perfect way to do that. The response has been incredible and it seems like every day we're adding more musicians and venues. We encourage everyone to come out and get to know our community.'
Make Music Plymouth will end with a closing celebration at the Plymouth Rotary Amphitheater, a spontaneous collaboration encouraging all musicians to join together in rhythm and sound.
