Boston Calling Music Festival: September schedule, and more things to know

The semi-annual Boston Calling Music Festival is returning to City Hall Plaza Sept. 5-7 with Bleachers, Girl Talk, Lorde, The Replacements, Gentlemen Hall, Nas x The Roots, and more musical acts. Future Islands, Neutral Milk Hotel, and The National will kick things off Friday night before others perform during the afternoons and evenings on Saturday and Sunday.

Attendees, who can watch performances at two different stages (blue and red), will have several food options on the grounds, and Boston Calling notes on its website that vegetarian dishes will be on many menus. Beer and wine can also be purchased.

City Hall Plaza is MBTA accessible. Since the Government Center station is closed for construction, walk from the State Street station on the Orange and Blue lines, or Haymarket stop on the Orange and Green lines (you can also look into the MBTA bus schedule). Parking will likely be a challenge, so the festival is encouraging use of public transportation. There will, however, be discounted parking at the Government Center Garage (50 New Sudbury St.) at a rate of $15 when purchased in advance.

General admission passes are still available, but VIP festival tickets are sold out. Families take note: All ages are welcome, and children under 10 are free. Check Boston Calling's website for updated ticket information.

Certain items are prohibited from the festival, such as large bags and backpacks, professional cameras and recording devices, pets, and more.
