Sacramento hopes to hit high note with music festival

Thousands of people are expected to pack Old Sacramento for the Sacramento Music Festival this Friday.

It's a huge street party with a whole lot of dancing, which for a long time was known as the Jazz Jubilee.

To keep the festival alive and to bring in a younger, more diverse crowd, there will be more than 100 bands, playing more blues, rock, country and even Latin music.

Organizer Mike Testa said the event used to bring 100,000 people out and every hotel in town was packed. Something they are hoping will happen again this year.

The Sacramento Music Festival celebrates more than 40 years of bringing bands together. Many businesses in Old Sacramento said it's their biggest money maker of the year.

Organizers say the festival usually generates more than a $1 million for Sacramento.

Tickets are 39 bucks, down form $45 in 2012.
