Red Wing Roots Music Festival Creates Sense of Community

It's the sound of our past, present, and future.

On Friday, people from all over the country will come to the Shenandoah Valley for a taste of American Roots music. The three-day musical festival features more than 40 bands.

Roots music is a mixture between folk music and Americana. It's music that's designed to take us back to our roots.

The Steel Wheels, a local American roots music band, began touring the country and wanted to bring their experiences back home to the Shenandoah Valley.

The hope is that the festival will benefit local businesses and create a sense of belonging.

'For me, I hope there is a deeper impact. That kids that grow up that come to a festival like this might see musicians who inspire them whether it's to do music or dance or carpentry or whatever it is they decide they want to do it might inspire them in one way or another,' said Trent Wagler, the lead singer of The Steel Wheels.

Organizers expect roughly 3,000 people to show up during the weekend.
