One of Houston's longest

One of Houston's longest-running music festivals has announced the lineup for its upcoming date at the Sam Houston Race Park.

The 12th Annual Ziegenbock Music Festival returns to the horse track on October 18.This will be its seventh year at this location since relocating there in 2009.

This year's lineup includes Josh Turner, Pat Green, Dan + Shay, Casey Donahew, Kevin Fowler, Roger Creager, and Josh Grider.

William Clark Green, Rosehill, The Damn Quails, Cam, Sam Riggs, Carter Beckworth, Scooter Brown, Justin van Sant, Buck Yeager, Charles Peter and the 10%, and Ray Johnston round out the bill, set out over three stages.

Creager and Fowler, Texas country veterans, have been mainstays at the festival since its beginning in 2003. Fowler usually plays in the afternoon in order to play an evening show nearby.

As Live Nation's Brian Birr points out, it's one of the longest-running music festivals in the Houston-area of its kind. The festival is held on the property's west field and usually sees upwards of 30,000 fans on site.

'The vast majority of the acts are always Texas country,' says Wayne Hodes, senior VP with SHRP. 'We try to skew towards Texas of course.'

Acts like Brad Paisley, the Zac Brown Band, Hayes Carll, Jason Aldean, and Miranda Lambert all played the Ziegenbock Music Festival in their early years on the road before moving on to larger fame.

'Zac Brown played a side stage in 2008 for just $500 and some free beer,' says Hodes. These days ZBB can sell out RodeoHouston and play Jazz Fest in New Orleans on bills with Foo Fighters and the Eagles.

This year fans will be able to park their RVs on the SHRP site at 8 a.m. the morning of the festival. RVs must be cleared out by 11 a.m. Sunday morning. Security will be on-site in case overnight festivities get out of hand.

Barbecue pits and stoves will be allowed on the RV camp sites but there are electrical or water hookups available. No camp fires, though, so your after-festival camp fire sing-a-longs are a no go.

Tickets go on sale Saturday morning at 10 a.m. through Live Nation.
