CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP -- The annual Free the Music Festival took place Saturday at Lakenenland.
But the festival is more than just a place to relax, meet and greet and hear area bands play.
Every year the festival donates its daily earnings to a local non-profit organization.
This year it chose a music education organization called Music For All Kids.
'We provide music education at schools like North Star and the Marquette Alternative High School. We provide classes and instruments for kids that may not have access to music education otherwise.' said program director Shane Murray.
Murray said that an average of 300 to 500 people attended the festival each year.
