Coast West Music Festival not returning to Muskegon

MUSKEGON, Mich. (WZZM)-The festival that replaced Muskegon's Summer Celebration is now also being scrapped.

The Muskegon Festival Group Board announced Wednesday that Coast West Music Festival will not return in 2014. The group says the festival revenue did not meet expectations and the financial obstacles are too large to overcome.

Coast West Music Festival made its inaugural debut at Heritage Landing in early July, two years after Summer Celebration folded because of similar financial issues. The six-day event included performances by LeAnn Rimes, Chicago, Blue Oyster Cult, Gregg Allman, Foghat, Cheap Trick, O.A.R. and Allen Stone.

Festival board members say they appreciate all the fans, volunteers and vendors that supported this year's festival.
