Fort Lauderdale has plenty of festivals where you'll jam and sweat the day away sucking down beer while wearing your favorite cowgirl hat. But not many of them take place on the actual beach, where the cool ocean breeze'll dry you right up as you dance like a rabid coyote next to the waves.

Rock the Ocean's Tortuga Music Festival offers that great view and so much more. The fest, which is also promoted by HUKA Entertainment, has quickly grown into a musical giant in the area, touting environmental conservation and country tunes. Dates for 2015 have already been announced, and if last year was any indicator, these'll sell out before the lineup comes out.

Tortuga will last from Saturday, April 11, to Sunday, April 12, at Fort Lauderdale Beach Park. There is a limited number of presale tickets available online at tortugamusicfestival.com starting Friday, November 7, at 10 a.m. You can get two-day general admission for $139, VIP for $579, or Super VIP for $979. There's a four-ticket limit for all you country ballers out there trying to get your whole crew in before the rest.

In the past, headliners have included Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Jake Owen, Kenny Chesney, Sheryl Crow, Ziggy Marley, the Avett Brothers, and Ben Harper. You'll be guaranteed something with twang, sprinkled in with pop, blues, and all beach-friendly tunes.

Oh, and the Earth is a big deal, so you'll be encouraged to help clean up the trash at the end of the day. After a few dozen beers, you'll enjoy the time to detox, and the turtles thank you. X Games Aspen headlining music acts announced - ESPN

Legendary rapper Snoop Dogg will make his X Games debut at the X Games Aspen 2015 music festival on Jan. 23 - 25 in Aspen.

Hip-hop stars Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa, and electronic music sensations Skrillex and Chromeo, will headline the X Games Aspen 2015 music festival at the base of Buttermilk Mountain on Jan. 23 - 25, X Games organizers announced on Wednesday.

'The goal is to help create more of a festival atmosphere around the sports,' says Tim Reed, senior director of X Games content strategy. 'I think it's also really exciting to be able to pop over and take in some great live music during the breaks -- it creates a really good vibe on the mountain, especially with a great mix of talent like we have here between Snoop and Wiz, Skrillex and Chromeo.'

Each artist will headline one of four shows, Jan. 23-25, alongside the snowboard, ski, and snowmobile events. Four-show general admission passes ($150) and preferred viewing passes ($200) for the concerts are available at XGames.com, and the performances will also be streamed live at XGames.com.

Snoop Dogg -- who has also recently been performing under the names Snoop Lion, Snoopzilla, and DJ Snoopadelic -- is touring in support of his recent 7 Days of Funk collaboration with Dam-Funk and his 2013 'Reincarnated' album, which debuted at number one on the Billboard Reggae Chart. Discovered in the early '90s by rapper/producer Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg first appeared with Dr. Dre on the single 'Deep Cover.' In the time since, Snoop Dogg has released 12 studio albums, appeared in films such as the 2003 comedy 'Old School,' and even popularized the use of the suffix '-izzle' in pop culture.

The electro-funk duo Chromeo, who began in Montreal, Canada a decade ago, recently dropped their fourth album, 'White Women.' The band has performed at festivals such as Coachella and Bonaroo, and been featured on 'Late Night with David Letterman' and 'The Jimmy Fallon Show.'

Skrillex, a six-time Grammy award winner, just released his first studio album, 'Recess.' But his music will be recognizable to fans of the X Games -- his single 'Bangarang' was featured in commercials for X Games in 2013.

Rapper/singer and songwriter Wiz Khalifa, most well known for his 2011 single 'Black and Yellow,' is currently on tour in support of his fourth album, 'Blacc Hollywood.'

After a successful concert series at Wagner Park in Aspen in 2014, the artists will be performing on a new stage and X Games concert venue at Buttermilk Mountain. Aspen Snowmass will also be hosting a free concert at the base of nearby Aspen Mountain on Saturday, Jan. 25, and the Belly Up venue in Aspen will feature a full lineup of artists playing nightly X Games after-parties.

'The Belly Up in Aspen has been a key partner, and in the coming weeks will be announcing some really exciting artists playing at their own venue during X Games,' adds Reed.

“60th anniversary Godzilla Music Festival” will feature film screening and ... - RocketNews24

It's hard to believe that Godzilla is celebrating his 60th birthday this week. The original black-and-white film was released on November 3, 1954, and has since then spawned a whole franchise of subsequent movies and become a recognizable pop culture icon across the world.

To commemorate everybody's favorite havoc-wreaking monster, a full screening of the original 1954 film accompanied by a live orchestral performance of the musical score will be held on Sunday, January 18 next year at Tokyo's NHK Hall. What better way to ring in the new year than with a blast from cinematic history past?

The program for the 60th anniversary Godzilla Music Festival ( 生誕60周年記念 ゴジラ音楽祭) will be split into two parts. The first part will feature a live performance of 'Symphonic Fantasia No. 1″ (SF交響ファンタジー第1番; otherwise known as the main Godzilla theme), which was composed by the prolific Akira Ifukube. The Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra will perform thispiece, led by composer/conductor Kaoru Wada, who happens to be an apprentice of the late Ifukube. There will also be a 'talk show' segment featuring Akira Takarada, an actor who starred in the original 1954 and several subsequent Godzilla films, along with Shiro Sano, who starred in some of the more recent films. The second part of the program will consist of a full screening of the original 1954 Godzilla film accompanied once again by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and female chorus Chor June. In addition, all event-goers will receive a special commemorative film bookmark upon entry.

According to event sponsor Toho Music, a similar Godzilla screening event to honor Ifukube held this past July at the Tokyo Opera City Tower was sold out, so you should order your tickets as soon as possible. Seats are priced according to three different groups, at 6,500 yen (US$57.23), 7,500 yen ($66.06), or 8,500 yen ($74.83) per seat. Doors at the NHK Hall will open at 4:15pm and the program will begin at 5pm on January 18. This will be an event that both longtime Godzilla fans and newcomers alike can appreciate, so dig out your nostalgic, rubber reptilian suit and get pumped!
