Made In America Music Festival Racks Up $475K In LAPD Overtime - CBS Local

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) - The summer's two-day Made In American music festival in downtown racked up more than $475,000 in police overtime, according to a new report.

The report will be presented to the Los Angeles Police Commission Tuesday morning.

During a normal two-week period, LAPD overtime usually tallies between $3.6 and $3.8 million when there are no large events.

During the two-week period of the festival, which occurred on Aug. 30 and 31 and also included Labor Day, overtime costs amounted to $4.7 million. The overtime pay associated with the Labor Day holiday alone was $459,550.

Made in America's promoter, Live Nation, agreed to pay the city a flat fee of $500,000 to reimburse services, which also included the public works and transportation departments, during the festival.

The event attracted 70,000 fans.

Tortuga Music Festival 2015: Advance tickets on sale Friday - SouthFlorida.com (blog)

Tickets will go on sale 10 a.m. Friday for Rock The Ocean's third annual Tortuga Music Festival, the two-day party dedicated to live music and ocean life conservation April 11-12 on Fort Lauderdale beach.

The early-bird tickets are $139 for a two-day pass ($579 for two-day VIP and $979 for Super VIP), available at TortugaMusicFestival.com and by calling 877-987-6487. Prices are in line with last year's early-bird ticket offer: $145, $599 and $999.

The price for single-day tickets that went on sale two weeks before Tortuga 2014 were $89, with two-day passes starting at $165.

The early-bird ticket offer, announced Tuesday morning, is an article of faith: No performers have been named for Tortuga 2015.

But in its first two years the festival has brought in a solid lineup of country, blues, pop and indie-rock performers, including Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Jake Owen, Dierks Bentley, Sheryl Crow, Train, Brantley Gilbert, Grace Potter, the Avett Brothers, Ben Harper & Charlie Musselwhite, Ziggy Marley and Slightly Stoopid.

The festival is a production of the Rock the Ocean Foundation, the brainchild of Nashville music veteran and former Fort Lauderdale resident and diver Chris Stacey, and HUKA Entertainment, which also handles the popular Hangout Music Festival and the Concerts for the Coast series featuring Jimmy Buffett, Bon Jovi and Brad Paisley.

The festival also supports marine research and conservation, taking its name from the sea turtles that nest annually along the South Florida coast. Three stages of music surround the festival's Conservation Village, curated by Stacey, offering interactive, educational experiences from such organizations as the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation, Shark Savers, Sea Turtle Oversight Protection, Florida Fishing Academy and Bonefish Tarpon Trust.

Dierks Bentley Announces FarmBorough, First-Ever Country Music Festival in ... - Taste of Country

The Governors Ball and Electric Zoo have made their marks in the New York City festival market, and now it's country music's turn.

FarmBorough, the Big Apple's first-ever country music fest, will take place at Randall's Island from June 26-28, 2015. With Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan and Brad Paisley set to headline the main stage and Caanan Smith opening the 'Next From Nashville' stage, the all-weekend event is set to feature over 30 artists including Wade Bowen, Brandy Clark, Maddie & Tae, Kip Moore and the Cadillac Three, with a few special guests.

'There are a lot of country music festivals around the country,' Bentley said during a press conference at New York City's Gramercy Park Hotel on Wednesday morning (Oct. 29). 'To actually have country music here in the city, a three-day festival with the biggest names in country music playing within the five boroughs and FarmBorough being the sixth borough, is really exciting for me. And I've been playing this city for a long time.'

Created by the founders of country music fests like Watershed, Faster Horses and Route 91 Harvest in partnership with Founders Entertainment, the company behind Governors Ball, organizers are hopeful that the festival will be a major success domestically and internationally. Brian O'Connell, Live Nation President of Country Touring and one of FarmBorough's organizers, explains that it's the constant communal feeling that country music has for everyone from the the artists to the media to the fans - something that you don't get to see in other genres of music - that appeals to him.

'We are in an inclusive community,' O'Connell said at the press conference. 'We strive to be inclusive while in the rock business, by their very nature, [it] is very exclusive. [Country artists] are just a different breed and different kinds of artists.'

Aside from community, Bentley is also looking forward to the fact that he'll actually get to 'explore the grounds' more and enjoy the festival, unlike the other events that he's played in the past.

'I've had the time to play Lollapalooza as an artist and Bonnaroo,' the 'Say You Do' singer said. 'And as far as country fair festivals, that's what they are, they're fairs. I grew up on fair festivals, and I love fairs. But you don't go and explore the grounds at a fair. There's nothing really to explore... What I love about what Brian and Jordan [Wolowitz of Founders Entertainment] are doing, they're really respectful of what's happening in country music.'

The VIP ticket pre-sale launched on Friday (Oct. 31). All other tickets, including general admission, will go on sale Nov. 6.
